The Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade in June 2022 has led Democrats to victory in the elections held since then. For 2024, the right to contraception and in-vitro fertilization seems to be the new scare tactic to get Americans to vote blue in the polls. Lead Senate Republicans are going on a talk show circuit tour to try and change the narrative and push for pro-IVF bills. This new legislation comes after Alabama’s top court ruled frozen embryos are legally children and the destruction of such embryos constitutes a crime under the state’s “wrongful death of a minor” law. On this episode of 360 View, Scottie Nell Hughes concludes that the reason contraception is such a hot topic is that hookup culture and getting married later in life is becoming the societal norm. Her panel (Desi K Robinson, health professor and doula; Woodrow Johnston, CEO of Revere Strategies; Timothy Gordon, host of the Rules for Retrogrades Podcast) weighs in. Or is there something to be said for taking responsibility for the people you sleep with?
